Where will my massage or bodywork session take place?

I primarily provide a mobile service which means I travel to you with everything necessary (massage table, sheets, blankets, music) to provide an amazing and very convenient in-home experience. There is a nominal travel fee for this, depending on where you live.  However, if you'd prefer to come to me, I am located in Laguna Niguel and have a small but cozy treatment room in my condominium, where there are no stairs and there is easy access and parking.

Must I be completely undressed?
It depends on the type of treatment you receive. Most circulatory massage and bodywork techniques are traditionally performed with the client unclothed to their level of comfort. You will be properly draped during the entire session.  However, with light touch therapies such as Healing Touch, Reiki, CranioSacral or Lymphatic Drainage, you will stay completely clothed.

Please note that if laying on a table is difficult for you, you can sit in a chair. Some clients can only lay on their bed, but therapies in this case will be limited. I will provide soft music to help you relax.  .

Will the practitioner be present when I disrobe?
I will leave the room while you undress, relax onto the table, and cover yourself with a clean sheet. Or I will be available to assist you in anyway you desire.

Will I be covered during the session?
You will be properly draped at all times to keep you warm and comfortable. Only the area being worked on will be exposed.

What parts of my body will be massaged?
A typical full-body session will include work on your back, arms, legs, feet, hands, head, neck, and shoulders. However, if you have recently had surgery,or  have cancer or other issues, your treatment will be altered to fit your needs.  Sometimes a wonderful hand, foot, or scalp massage is all you may want.

What will the massage or bodywork feel like?
A relaxing circulatory massage is very enjoyable and beneficial and often a baseline for clients. In this type of massage, broad, flowing strokes  will help calm your nervous system and relax muscle tension.  Often, a light oil or lotion is used to allow your muscles to be massaged without causing excessive friction to the skin. The oil also helps hydrate your skin. It is important that we communicate before and during the session so you are completely comfortable and can fully enjoy your treatment .

Are there different kinds of massage and bodywork?
There are numerous types of massage and bodywork.  A customized circulatory massage uses different strokes, light stretches, application of  pressure to specific points, and more. Light touch therapies are completely different but equally enjoyable and beneficial.  We can discuss which methods may be most appropriate for you.

What should I do during the massage or bodywork session?
Prior to the massage, feel free to ask me any questions about the technique or the upcoming session. During the massage, make yourself comfortable and let me do the rest. Many people just close their eyes and completely relax, communicating if/when they need more or less pressure, another blanket, or anything else relevant to the session. If you have any questions regarding the session or about the particular technique you are receiving, feel free to ask.

How will I feel after the massage or bodywork session?
Most people feel very relaxed. Some experience freedom from long-term aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity. After an initial period of feeling slowed down, people often experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity which can last for days.

What are the benefits of massage and bodywork?
Massage and bodywork can help release chronic muscular tension and pain, improve circulation, increase joint flexibility, reduce mental and physical fatigue and stress, promote faster healing of injured muscular tissue, improve posture, and reduce blood pressure. Massage and bodywork is also known to promote better sleep, improve concentration, reduce anxiety and create an overall sense of well-being.

Are there any medical conditions that would make massage or bodywork inadvisable?
Sometimes. That's why it's important that we have a conversation before your session about your current health conditions.  It's vital that you inform  me of any health problems or medications you are taking, and if you are under a doctor's care, it is strongly advised that we get his OK for massage or bodywork prior to any session.
